Singapore, 18 May 2019 – Teams PSG RRQ (ID) and EVOS Sg have emerged as the teams to beat after a full day of gaming at the Southeast Asia Clash of Champions at iMDA’s SG:Digital Wonderland at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre (Halls 404-406). PSG RRQ (ID) and EVOS Sg won both their group games and will progress to the semi-finals tomorrow. PSG RRQ (ID) will play Geek Fam (MY) in the first semi-final while EVOS Sg will meet Cignal Ultra (PH) in the second semi-final.

Said Try Widyanto AKA AyamJAGO of PSG RRQ, “There’s always a bit of nerves going into the first match but it was a good start. Our second opponent, Cignal Ultra, is a very strong team and it was an intense match but we played with patience, kept pushing and played it on the safe side. We’ll need to change up our strategy in the next game but we feel great at the moment.”

Cignal Ultra did not let their results in their first match affect their game play – they came back strongly against Team Flash (ID) and secured a spot in tomorrow’s semi-finals. “We planned our strategy after losing in the first round, so we expected to win this game. We are going to use a different strategy each game, because our opponents have already watched how we execute our strategies. We cannot use it twice, so we are going to move on to the other strategy for tomorrow,” commented Cignal Ultra’s Mark Exequiel Cruz AKA Dysani.

Lauded as the challenger to beat in Group B, GeekFam (MY) beat Burmese Ghouls in their opening match, but conceded to EVOS Sg (SG) in their second match – something they had not expected having beat the Singapore team just last month.

Said Amirul Shafiq bin Mohd Amir AKA Feekz of GeekFam, “We were surprised that EVOS Sg brought a new strategy and we couldn’t counter that – we could not react and find a solution in time. We lacked communication in our game so we’ll need to improve on that in the next game. Strategy-wise, we’re good.”

EVOS Sg continued their good form and went on to hand a heavy defeat to Team Flash (ID) in their second match.

Robert Boon AKA OhDeerBambi of EVOS Sg said, “We recently lost to GeekFam at the MPL so this win is very significant to us. I think the key moment for us was when they allowed Hayabusa to farm up a lot and that applied a lot of pressure on the opponent.” He continued,

“Of course it feels really good to top the table…I think we do have a slight advantage and we are excited to see where it goes from here.”
